Used After Winning The 1989 PGA Championship At Kemper Lakes!
Up for auction is the hat Payne Stewart wore during the trophy presentation after winning the 1989 PGA Championship at Kemper Lakes. On August 13, 1989 Payne Stewart would win the first of his three majors in thrilling fashion coming from behind while going on an absolute tear on the back nine to win by one stroke. After the thrilling win, Payne donned this Chicago Bears Hat for the trophy presentation and all of the celebration that followed. Payne Stewart famously had a sponsorship from the NFL in the 1980's and 90's. He typically would wear the colors of the team from whatever City the PGA Tour was in that weekend. Kemper Lakes is in Illinois, thus the Bears memorabilia for the weekend. This hat will come with a full LOA from Payne's wife Tracey Stewart detailing its history.
